{Lovely Look} Lauren + Taylor

Lauren and Taylor met working at Starbucks. Lauren and Taylor are avid readers. Coffee + Books = 2 things that I love but can’t get my sweet hubs to enjoy.  He thinks coffee is an addiction. In fact, we went down to an antiques trade show last weekend, and he insisted I buy a sign that says, “Give me my coffee and nobody gets hurt.” Well, I did. It’s hanging above my Keurig right now.:)

When I first met with Lauren and Taylor, I asked if there was anything specific they did together, and they said that they enjoyed reading together. I thought it would be a super cute idea to integrate that into the shoot.  I find it always makes people more comfortable when they’re doing an activity. It relaxes clients because they feel a little distracted, but it always always always generates natural emotion which is what I LOVE. To explain the random adjectives they wrote on the paper – I asked them to describe each other in one word, and write it down on a sheet of book paper. From what I’ve encountered with them so far, I’ve definitely experienced Lauren as a bubbly, hilarious person and Taylor as a sweet and quiet guy who could very well be extremely romantic.:)

The two are getting married in September, and I’m excited to capture their day!

{Lovely Weddings} Zach + Katie

I met Katie last year when I shot a lovely rustic wedding in North Georgia. She was the new fiancee of one of the groomsmen in the wedding, and she and I hit it off right away. After seeing Savannah’s images from the wedding, Katie contacted me to shoot hers the following year. Well, March 3 rolled around, and before I knew it, she was becoming the Mrs. Zach Line! I honestly can’t believe the time went by so fast! We were crossing our fingers all day for no rain, and the odds were in our favor (yep, Hunger Games reference). Luckily, we were able to shoot outside with the nice clouds overhead. The wedding was small and intimate and hosted at the historic Carlyle House in downtown Norcross, Georgia. It’s really a great place to have a wedding. I may be a little partial, but I’m a big fan of Paizanos (best pizza around!) and Mojitos which is just yards down the street from the Carlyle House. There’s no greater way to celebrate a wedding than to enjoy some great food and drinks afterward!

Katie and Zach – I loved working with both of you. I wish you the best of luck in your future in the military and move out to California! I hope that all your dreams come true together.

{Engaged} Matt + Tara

Let me just start by saying that Tara is such a sweetie! After randomly finding me through my BFF, Google, she and I had a couple of coffee dates even before the engagement session. It’s wonderful to get to know your clients and feel like you’re becoming friends through the process. After some debating on how to style this shoot, we decided to go back to where the romance started – Chateau Elan, in Braselton, Georgia. Matt proposed to Tara while they were staying there for an overnight getaway. Tara’s ring – oh. my. goodness. – it’s beautiful. Not like your average beautiful (as if beautiful can somehow be average?)… I’m talking about jaw-dropping gorgeous. I’ve honestly never seen a ring like it. :)

Tara and Matt are getting married on April 6, and I’m very excited to share their day of love with them! After the wedding, our friendship will blossom into another lovely aspect of my life in Atlanta. Tara has promised to teach me to play golf, and I’ve basically promised her I’ll try (a.k.a. swing and pray to come in contact with the ball). Let’s toast to their marriage and new beginnings!

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

Wow. Strange to reflect back on the last year! So much has happened, and it went by incredibly fast! They say that the three most stressful times of your lives are 1. Right after you get married  2. When you start a new job  3. When you move to a different location. Well, Andrew and I did all three in one year. We got married, he started his new job, and we moved down to Atlanta. Somehow we made it, and I’m so grateful. I can look back on 2011 and genuinely say it was a great year. It was full of a lot of really super events that may seem meaningless to you, but were so important to me. Here are a few of the highlights from 2011.

1. Shot more weddings in 2011 than I ever expected!

2. I planted my first summer garden and yielded TONS of veggies!! (Squash, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, and Cucumbers! Oh My!)

3. I traveled to Cambodia and Ethiopia on photography projects for nonprofit organizations. YES.

4. We successfully moved to Atlanta, and Andrew truly loves it.

5. I became part of a Bible study small group that consists of girls that bring so much joy to my life! Amazing!

6. I rekindled a relationship with one of my best friends, who also happened to move down to the area with her husband. I don’t know what I would do without her.

7. I was able to work with some super great photographers, learn from them, and soak it all up like a sponge.

8. My photography was published in national wedding blogs like Sparkle and Hay, The Wedding Pickle, and The Lovely Find.

I’m ecstatic to find out what 2012 holds for us! I hope to shoot more, travel more, and become a better person in general – learning from everything and loving every minute! I hope you are setting goals this year, and taking joy in every opportunity that you have each day. Hello 2012!

My favorite picture of Kenya from 2011! Of course, wearing his favorite scarf!

Our first Christmas picture :)

It’s super funny when you’re trying to get a good picture of yourself, the photographer, and your husband and dog. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned how wild Kenya is, but he’s nuts. Super fun dog, but he only loves the camera if I’m the one behind it. I tried to get my mother to take a picture of us for our Christmas card. I thought, “Let’s just set it on Auto, give it to her and see what happens. Surely I got this talent from someone…. right?” Nope. Not Mom. We probably shot 50 different images… on Friday. I wasn’t satisfied with any of them, so I made everyone get dressed again and start all over on Saturday. Finally, after another 50 shots, an annoyed husband, and a dog who strongly disliked being restrained to one position for 20 minutes, we got one that was satisfactory. So, folks, here it is. Our first Christmas picture together. Merry Christmas!
